WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Assist in the coordination, instruction, and monitoring of Advance Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) level courses for the Harvey L. Hall EMS Academy and Training Center. and or continuing education (CE) courses hosted at or connected with the Harvey L. Hall EMS Academy and Training Center. Instruction includes:

  • Proctoring ALS-level psychomotor skills including setting up and maintaining skills equipment.
  • Provide occasional remedial education for EMT and paramedic trainees during field training.
  • Maintain accurate and organized recordkeeping of the certifications and continuing education (CE) hours issued to current employees who successfully complete CE and certificate granting courses.
  • Respond to medical emergencies in the community as a Kern County accredited paramedic when needed. With a professional approach, provide outstanding customer service to the public and employees of Hall Ambulance, Inc.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Instructor Duties (Field Coordinator, EMT Academy, and Skills):

  • Obtain and maintain Instructor status required to teach necessary EMS-related CE courses such as ACLS, AHA CPR, PALS, and PHTLS; and to proctor EMT and paramedic-level Kern County EMS and State Skills Verifications.
  • In coordination with the Training Director, objectively evaluate poor performance of any Hall field personnel when an area of weakness is either witnessed or verbally obtained from FTOs/preceptors or Hall managers, then construct and implement a remediation plan, documenting the outcome.
  • Offers FTO and preceptor courses and maintains accurate records of all paramedic preceptors and EMT FTOs who have completed the field training course.
  • In partnership with management in charge of scheduling, assist in assigning students ready to commence with field training with qualified and available FTO’s /Preceptors.
  • Works closely with the Clinical and Field Coordinator/s of the Bakersfield College’s Paramedic Program to assist with all Hall Ambulance employees’ and non-employee Bakersfield College students during their hospital and field training internships.

Continuing Education Coordinator:

  • Assists in the planning, scheduling, and managing enrollments, which may include issuing key codes, for courses (online, hybrid, and face-to-face) at the Harvey L. Hall Training Center. These courses include, but are not limited to the following: PHTLS, ACLS, PALS, CPR
  • Tracks employee training progress, generates training reports, and maintains up-to-date training records.
  • Keep employees informed on scheduled mandatory training sessions and tracks their progress.
  • Completes, submits, and files all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Creates and issues CE certificates to those who successfully complete any CE course.
  • Works with the Human Resources Department to maintain a database of current Hall Ambulance Service, Inc. of the certifications and licensure/certification expiration dates; and updates the information in the database following a Training Center courses or submittal by an employee.
  • Attend seminars and meetings to learn new training methods and techniques and use the knowledge to prepare and coordinate future training sessions.
  • Recommend training materials and methods, maintain in-house training equipment and facilities
  • Work with the Director to manage the budget set for training supplies.

    Training & Education:

    • The individual in this position must possess the following education requirements:
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • Valid Paramedic Licensure from a recognized Paramedic training program, which must be maintained.
    • Valid & current Kern County and State of California Certification as a Paramedic in good standing.
    • Valid & current Ambulance Driver Certification and Medical Examiners Certificate.
    • Insurable by Hall Ambulance Service, Inc. driver’s insurance policy.
    • Annual TB clearance.
    • Valid & current Class C California Driver License.
    • Valid & current CPR card.
    • AHA BLS Instructor Certification.
    • FISDAP Preceptor Course completion upon hire.
    • NAEMSE Instructor Course (outlined in Title 22) completion within year 1 of hire.
    • ICS Courses 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 completion upon hire.

    SALARY RANGE

    • $70,000 - $90,000 annual; DOE
